The Tuesday Tattler

Today, I tattle on the "WOLVES IN SHEEP'S CLOTHING"

Supporters of PUBLIC Education beware the wolves in sheep's clothing. They are lurking, and their numbers are growing. They disguise themselves as public education supporters, jump on an issue, and work hard to get you to take up their cause. These people have their own personal agenda to accomplish, and it is not in support of public school children. They may appear to be working toward public education support. They even appear to want public schools succeed. The thing is, when you look closely into their issue or the "support" they offer, you can see that it all relates to only one goal and benefits far less than all public school children.

It is easy to fall into the web they spin. They have legislators on their sides, they approach you in a manner that says they truly care, and they work hard for "their" issue. That is where the trouble lies. True PUBLIC education supporters seek to support public education and children at every turn, taking on all legislation that detracts from public education and promoting all legislation that benefits public school children. When you look closely you will notice that the "wolves" only promote one issue, one agenda, the ONE that benefits them.

These people are nice people, they are not "bad" people. They just don't understand what goes into being a true supporter of PUBLIC education. They do know that supporters of public education are a passionate lot, and they know how to play on that passion to motivate people to take up their cause and join their fight. They are good at utilizing true supporters to take their cause to the masses and promote it as one to benefit ALL children. This is why caution must be used when taking up any educationally political issue. True supporters must understand the full scope and sequence and every possible consequence of every possible action. The "wolves" will push their issue rapidly to the forefront, detract from real issues to get their's noticed, and disappear just as quickly no matter the end reslut. True supporters never go away. They work, reasearch, fight, and promote every step of the way. Win or lose the true supporter's passion builds and motivation grows. The "wolves" will tuck tail and run either in celebration or defeat, but they will have taken their one agenda item and run its course not to be heard from on any other issue facing PUBLIC education.

Do you know the "wolves"? Have you asked them to help with issues other than the one they want you to work for or agains? Have you noticed their reply? Take note my friends, these people exist, we see them daily in our battles. It is time to call them out, use them for the benefit of PUBLIC education, and send them back to their pack to lick their wounds.
